Seoul from the Namsan Tower
Arriving in South Korea from Mongolia was a bit of a shock. It’s hard to imagine a bigger change from the vast steppe and remote ger camps! 😱
With a population of 10 million, the city of Seoul has almost 3 times as many people as the whole country of Mongolia, in way less than 1% of the area. 👫ðŸ‘👬👫ðŸ‘👬
The view from the Namsan Tower tells the story, though this hazy day photo doesn’t do it justice. You can walk around and look at the full 360-degree view, and in every direction, there’s a forest of high rise buildings spreading out as far as the eye can see. 👀
From here at the top of the tower it’s a static scene — you don’t see things moving. But when you’re down at street level, you realize that this is a modern megacity brimming with energy, activity, and life. Imagine this scene with millions of teeny-tiny people bustling about down there. 😊

Which type of location calls to you — a remote camp in the wide open spaces of Mongolia, or the vibrant and sophisticated metropolis of Seoul? It’s all about individual preference. Personally I enjoy being away from the crowds most of the time, with an occasional big-city interlude for variety. What about you? You can share your thoughts in the Reply section at the bottom. Thanks!
